The Marshall School is a lovely piece of heroic architecture and a local landmark. The K-12 school opened in 1903 and was closed to students in 1976 due to unmet earthquake standards. The sad thing is the place has been there for 109 years, survived the 1906 quake but doesn’t meet the terms of the Field Act. There were no exterior structural cracks on the building. For a while the city used the school for adult education, but it is now closed for good. What shall we do with these places?
